The TPA Experts is the result of a unique journey, bringing together three respected Third Party Administration (TPA) firms, each with a legacy of exceptional service and dedication to retirement plan administration.
Our roots date back to 2015, when NBT Bank, a community-focused financial institution based in central New York, acquired Third Party Administrators, Inc., (TPA, Inc.) located in Bedford, NH.
Founded in 1994, TPA, Inc. was established with a commitment to exceptional service. Known for its adaptability and client-centered approach, TPA, Inc. earned a national reputation for its proficiency in unbiased retirement plan consulting and administration. The firm built its success on forming close client relationships and delivering custom solutions designed to meet the unique goals of employers and participants.
In 2016, NBT Bank acquired Downeast Pension Services (DPS), based in New Gloucester, ME.
Established in 1992, DPS quickly became a trusted leader in retirement plan administration throughout New England. Founded by a CPA firm, DPS applied the disciplined checks and balances of professional accounting to administer qualified retirement plans, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and reliability clients could depend on. With a specialization in sophisticated plan design and a culture of personalized service, DPS has become a valued partner for businesses seeking strategies that maximize benefits for both employers and employees.
In 2022, the experience and resources of these two firms were formally combined to create The TPA Experts. Together, we have built on our shared values of knowledge and client-focused processes, improving retirement plan outcomes for the clients we serve. By uniting our strengths, we are better positioned to offer comprehensive support and deliver meaningful solutions to businesses across the Northeast and beyond.
Our evolution continued in late 2024 with the addition of PACO, Inc. (PACO), based in West Des Moines, Iowa.
Founded in 1976, PACO is one of the oldest independent TPA firms in Iowa, earning the trust of businesses across the Midwest. With decades of experience serving organizations of all sizes, PACO specializes in creating customized plans and providing administrative services that align with clients' specific needs. PACO's independent approach ensures unbiased consulting, enabling it to work seamlessly with the investment arrangements chosen by employers and their financial and tax advisors. This tradition of excellence and dedication to client success makes PACO a natural fit for The TPA Experts' mission.
